Ospreys at Easter

Richard Bell, spring/summer 1971

On Sunday evening I noticed that some marble galls I had picked from an oak tree were covered in small dimples as if the occupant was burrowing out. I put them in a jar and on Monday evening a wasp about 1 cm long emerged. Eventually about a dozen insects emerged ½ of those with long ovipositors. All had sensitive quivering antena.
