American Land-cress: Just a half metre square of this easy-to-grow alternative to watercress can supply you with peppery-tasting leaves for sandwiches and salads right through the year.

Plug Plants Propagating your own plants is the green way to grow your vegetables but to give us a head start at this time of year we've gone for plug plants; instant cabbages and lollo rosso!

Plants by the Pond: Are you so busy that you feel you never have time to draw? Do you just snatch the odd sketch during the odd idle moment? It's probably time for drastic action: on a real spring morning (that's a change!) I gave myself a few hours to draw by the pond.

Thank you Katherine, it's good to recognised - that's my first award in 10 years (since October, 1998) of nature blogging!
