alneIt's be madly blustery and buffeting for three days now; not gales, just mad breezes. And it's been one of those days when we can't seem to settle either.

We're driving to the Emley farm shop; first I take a wrong turn and have to turn around while a tractor waits for me and then, when reach the stump cross in the centre of Emley, there's a diversion sign stopping us from going any further. With miles to go to get round we cut our losses and head for home.


the woodgoldfinchgreenfinchBirches, willows, even oaks, are showing a lot of green but the tall ashes in the valley still look bare.

A goldfinch feeds on the niger seed, which I refill every other day. A greenfinch tucks into the sunflower seed.
