A Hoot

Sometimes making a birthday card is quicker than trailing the shops looking for something suitable. I drew this tawny owl in bamboo pen watercolour for my sister-in-law Michelle.

The old horse chestnut outside the bathroom window of Bill and Michelle's ground floor flat has recently been felled (its roots had got into the drains). Michelle says you could look out of the bathroom and be face-to-face with an adult owl and occasionally one of their young.

I'll miss that tree and so will the owls.
