HERE’S THE young person who brought us to the Isle of Man; our great-nephew Harry, who was christened at the weekend. Today must have been his first Tynwald.

After drawing so much with my left hand it’s nice to switch back to my right. I’m slower with my left, so I can’t keep up with Harry’s exploration of his immediate environment.

At a garden centre in an old walled garden near Douglas in the afternoon, I draw the chimney and roof-lights. I like roof-tops because they’re often where the architect is off-guard, so you get a motley variety of shapes.

It’s nice to sit in the sun with a pot of tea, drawing as Barbara and her mum take a short look around.
