When I was a student in Leeds, I’d regularly spend my lunch time browsing the secondhand books in Miles’ Bookshop or the Hyde Park bookshop. I came across this copy of of Atlantis; the Antediluvian World by Ignatius Donnelly, 24th edition, dated 1882. It was the Chariots of the Gods or Da Vinci Code of its day, covering an impressive range of evidence in the search for the legendary lost island.

Brendan Fraser digs out his copy of it at the end of the recent film of Jules Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

This little gallery of photographs is my first use of Flash in a website. I’ve still got a lot to learn.
