Great Portland Street

Richard Bell’s nature diary, London,  Thursday,  6th August 2009, page 2 of 3

Euston Road

BY THE time I’d crossed Regent’s Park and reached Great Portland Street the rain had set in and when I reached Diana Place on the Euston Road it was coming down so heavily that I sheltered under a concrete canopy to draw the street scene.

Prepared for London, rather than for a day’s fellwalking, I’d omitted to pack a kagoule so eventually I had to set off in the rain, popping in to Euston station during one of the heavier showers for fish and chips at Harry Ramsden’s.

The original Harry Ramsden’s is here in West Yorkshire, so fish and chips wasn’t what I intended to eat on my day trip to London. It gave me a welcome break though, after my trek through the rain.
