Out of the Blue

I RAN OUT of blue black ink half way through the drawing my art bag so I popped a blue cartridge in my Parker Reflex fountain pen. Even though I flushed out the nib unit, it’s not flowing as well as I’d like. This could be because the cartridge paper I’m using has slightly rough surface or possibly because it is sized. The pen is designed for writing so perhaps, if I want a smoothly flowing line, I should try it on  writing paper.

The evening clouds are something that Ruskin suggested students of drawing should try to represent using line to represent gradations of tone.
