I DREW halfway along the banking, then started adding watercolour and realised that, as I was drawing in H pencil, I was losing most of the shading I’d laboriously pencilled in under the watercolour, so I continued in watercolour, drawing with the brush.

 

The sky, between heavy showers alternated between cool and warm greys but was so close in tone to the white of the cartridge paper in my sketchbook that I had difficulty scanning the image.
